The Wii will be released on November 19th at a cost of $250. The bundle will include the console, Wii Sports and one controller with the nunchuck attachment. The bad news is that extra controllers are $40 a piece, plus $20 for each nunchuck attachment. That means multiplayer is going to be expensive. There are also 'Classic Controller' attachments for Virtual Console games that will cost $20 as well.
At launch, Nintendo will have three games available, Wii Sports which is included with the console, Excite Truck and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There will also be a number of third party titles out for launch. There are plans for online games next year, but none this year. You can see a list of games that will be available for the Wii before March 31st 2007 here.
The Virtual Console is essentially an emulator that will let you play NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and Turbo Graphix 16 games on the Wii. Games will be downloadable to internal memory in the Wii or SD cards. Pricing for VC games is $5 for NES games, $8 for SNES games, and $10 for N64 games. At launch there are supposed to be about 30 VC games available, with 10 new games becoming available each month in 2007.
