I Love Lawyers…
September 29th, 2006

I was listening to the radio the other day and heard a news story about a guy who was convicted for killing three women. They quoted the killer's lawyer who had this to say: “Well, sometimes facts are stubborn things to deal with.”

from Dominic
September 27th, 2006

Check out this cool birthday card I got from Dominic:

This isn't the whole card, but Dominic was so innovative in his design that it can't really be shown in a 2D image.

Playing iTunes Protected Music in Winamp
September 25th, 2006

As I pointed out in a previous post, you can play m4a files in Winamp using a plugin from Free Codecs. Now Free Codecs has released a plugin that lets you play iTunes protected music, mp4 files, in Winamp. The catch is that you have to have iTunes installed and your computer has to be authorized in iTunes to play the music. The important point is that you don't have to have iTunes open to play the files. This is a good thing considering how much of a resource hog iTunes is.

Car Trouble
September 25th, 2006

Update: Got in touch with Dad finally. Thanks to everyone that helped out.

So I'm on my way to school today and just before I go into a busy intersection my brakes decide to, well, break. The car is going to be in a shop here overnight and I can't seem to get in touch with Dad, so if there's anyone left in Syracuse that's headed to Oneida, could you drop me a line at (number removed to avoid phone spam). Thanks.

Next I'm going to make sure I have people's right phone numbers…

Wii! The Next Nintendo Console
September 24th, 2006

The Wii will be released on November 19th at a cost of $250. The bundle will include the console, Wii Sports and one controller with the nunchuck attachment. The bad news is that extra controllers are $40 a piece, plus $20 for each nunchuck attachment. That means multiplayer is going to be expensive. There are also 'Classic Controller' attachments for Virtual Console games that will cost $20 as well.

At launch, Nintendo will have three games available, Wii Sports which is included with the console, Excite Truck and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There will also be a number of third party titles out for launch. There are plans for online games next year, but none this year. You can see a list of games that will be available for the Wii before March 31st 2007 here.

The Virtual Console is essentially an emulator that will let you play NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and Turbo Graphix 16 games on the Wii. Games will be downloadable to internal memory in the Wii or SD cards. Pricing for VC games is $5 for NES games, $8 for SNES games, and $10 for N64 games. At launch there are supposed to be about 30 VC games available, with 10 new games becoming available each month in 2007.

You can find more information about the Wii, here.
