This may be the game you’re looking for…
October 20th, 2007

For various reasons, people didn’t believe me when I told them that a 32 player online game was planned for the Wii. Well, :P . Medal of Honor Heroes 2 is yet another WWII FPS and it’s scheduled to be released for the Wii on November 13th. It includes an on rails shooter mode on top of the regular mode. If you’re interested, you can check out this hands-on preview and this video.

Also good news is that Okami has been confirmed for the Wii.

Anybody want to see a movie this weekend?
October 18th, 2007

I’ve been waiting to see Casshern for a while, and I was happy to see it’s now available on Netflix. It shipped tonight, so it should arrive tomorrow. Check out these review from Rotten Tomatoes:

“Overlong, heavy-handed and thoroughly humourless…”
– Anton Bitel, MOVIE GAZETTE

“The semiotic noise of this juiced-up virtual exhibit doesn’t exactly ask to be discerned.”
– Ed Gonzalez, SLANT MAGAZINE

With reviews like that, how could anyone refuse? OK, I’m fully aware of the likelihood that a viewing of this movie will turn into MST3K, but that’s good too, right?

Somewhere at the edge of the bell curve…
October 18th, 2007

One of the guys I met out in Seattle pointed me to xkcd, but I didn’t take a good look at it until this comic made it’s way on to Digg. After that I went back through some of the archives, and I have to say that for some reason I found this comic particularly amusing:

especially given some of the advice I’ve heard.

Gee, I wonder who these are made for…
October 11th, 2007

Nintendo’s spending a whole bunch of money to send these out to Wii owners. They’re out in Japan already, and will be released in North America on the 15th. You can go to the Official Nintendo Site to sign up to get yours, if you own a Wii.

Bacteria Extermination
October 10th, 2007

Nintendo had their Fall 2007 Conference (Nintendo has a fall conference?) in Japan yesterday and released a few bits of interesting news. Nintendo announced their first Wii Ware titles (games that can be downloaded from the shop channel but are not from previous systems), Dr. Mario (updated and with online play), Pokemon Ranch Channel and a couple with only Japanese names. Third party companies will be releasing a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles title and Star Soldier R. It’s my understanding that none of the Wii Ware titles will be out until early next year.

Nintendo will also be releasing some new Wii channels: Mii Contest Channel and Everybody’s Nintendo Channel. Mii Contest Channel will let you judge other people’s Miis and have yours judged. Everybody’s Nintendo Channel will let you download game demos to your DS.

Sonic will be in Smash Bros. Brawl.

Fire Emblem for the DS was announced.

Mario Kart is coming Spring 2008, and with motorcycles.
Super Mario Stadium Baseball was announced.
“Nintendo will put more emphasis on the Wii Vote channel in the future. You’ll be able to put rankings for games that you’ve played and search for games that fit your liking.”
Source
